KL business trip 2 (15-16/7)

This trip I didn't get to bring my camera, as I thought it would be a very short trip and won't have anything unusual/special. The day before I was only got back from Singapore. Boy I was wrong. Regret didn't bring my camera and have to settle with my 3mp camera phone instead.

Stayed at ParkRoyal Hotel opposite Sungei Wang shopping mall. Very strategic place for shopping. But I was there for urgent meeting.

Pics below are my room, share with an engineer. Thank God we got a twin bed room. Initially there's not twin bed and only king size bed available. Bahaya ni, persuaded the counter lady to keep finding the room we preferred, hahaha. Finally got one!!

It's a special room we got arranged to. We the pics then u'll know. See the toilet, GLASS wall!!!. I was shocked!!! I was like "I'm not going to show my jewels to the guy I'm sharing the room with while I'm in the toilet!!" The he went in and have a look, and thank God there's blinder to close the toilet view, phew!!!!

View of my room

SONY LCD

Comfy beds

DVD player somemore.

Toilet view. got 2 rooms..

Shitting room

and shower room. This shower room got this horizontal spray thingy which is almost the same as the hotel I stayed in Singapore 2 days back. Syok!!

Decorations outside my room.

Nice and relaxing view rite?

Late supper me and my roommate went to Alor street. Had typical fry kuey teow.

Then we saw some durian stalls, both of us love durian, so we go attack!!!

Ordered those expensive types of durians. 1st one was very nice, milky and creamy, soft and small seed! It was almost perfect! Labuan or sabah durians can't beat this at all. Totally worth the money. I forgot what type of durian was that.

See,....small seed!

2nd durian was a super bitter durian. It was really bitter and the most bitter I tasted so far on durians. I liked it!!! Also soft, creamy, and small seed. 2 durians is enough for both of us, serious. A lot of meat. Thumbs up!

Next day meeting in Petronas twin tower.

Guess where this is (pic below). Wohooo!! It's the bridge connecting between the twin towers! Been thinking of going up there since years ago but keep forgetting. This time I got the chance as the person in charge brought us pass this bridge to the other tower for the meeting. Glad I made for this trip, no regret at all!!

Another view from the bridge

all of us visitors SAKAI!!

Another view

Public Bank building

After meeting we went back to the hotel for quick rest and free snacks. Then go for short walk before heading back to Labuan on the evening flight. Thank God for the fruitful trip!

Singapore Business trip (13-14/7)

Been quite a while since I've visited Singapore. Finally got the chance to travel there. Was on a business trip, meeting with some important on business matters.

Not much people travel through KLIA on the international area. I wonder why. Or was I on the different hall since we're only travelling to Singapore instead of other further countries?

Really look empty.

KL now is hazy. 2 weeks ago it was good weather. Damn those neighbouring countries' bush/forest fires. Really been an issue for many years.

Chivas 25 yr old whiskey. Rare find even in Labuan. Very Pricey

Me and colleagues stayed at Meritus Mandarin Hotel, at the famous shopping area, Orchard Rd.

The view from my room

Greeted while entering my room.

The room is really nice. Just a deluxe room. Got many sorts of magazines that I can read during free / relax time. Even give complimentary National Geographic magazine for me to bring home.

Cordless phone somemore.

My bed, so comfy. In the early evening the room service will come in and take away the decorations on the bed and get the bed ready.

Other view.

LCD TV!!!

U see the resting chair beside the bed? That is a very comfortable chair. So comfy that I can really sleep on it. No need my bed anymore. It's easy adjustable and can rest my legs too, while watching the LCD tv.

Working table

I love the toilet. It has almost everything!

Bath tub, but I didn't get to use it, not enough time to enjoy.

So many toiletries, for free!!! (hehe)

Even got weighing scale, especially for the food lovers to monitor themselves.

This shower room is one of a kind. It has 6 spray nozzles that spray horizontally toward your body.

Closer look, can u see the nozzles rite?

The nozzles at work, see how they spray. I can just position them to spray which part of my body. So you can easily guess where I position the bottom 2 nozzles la rite? wahahahahah.

Took some pics of the area around the hotel.

Yes, I'm really at the ORCHARD ROAD

Another view.

Quick browse at the Takashimaya mall and bought light snack before meeting. Sushis!!! hehehe. Price is ok, not too bad, considering that they are fresh and nice!

After meeting, went dinner with my colleagues and the clients at a famous restaurant. Seeing this clam, can't resist not to take picture. Didn't get to eat that though. Didn't get to take pics during dinner, afraid the clients and colleagues felt appalled by my behaviour, hehe. Next time.

Night shot's from my hotel room.

While doing quick browse at the mall after dinner, found this durian puff!!! I must try!!!! So i bought a pack of four.

The puff were surprisingly good!!! The durian paste were actually real fresh durian puree. No additives / preservatives. And generous fillings. No regrets buying them. costs me SGD3.50.

Generous filling, not sure if u can see the fillings clearly.

After that went outside for short walk, and took some pics around.

The place, and the road system are good. Very systematic, comfortable and clean. The pedestrian walkway is super wide! I think can fit 2 car lanes!

See how wide!!

Next morning breakbuffet at 39th floor. The views are great, minus the hazy condition, really turn off.

It's the shopping season in Singapore, and the Changi Airport also having sales. Each of us were givan an SGD5.00 voucher to spend on with a minimum SGD20 in a single receipt. Really good! So many shops with free duty are around the airport, very different from KLIA.

Another view of the airport shopping area.

Overall the trip was good. Meeting was productive. Travel was on time, bit tiring. Then got an urgent call for meeting in KL the next 2 days! So need to rush the reports for the meeting, and need to travel to KL. Next post on KL trip coming up!

Dinner review @ Mawilla Restaurant

Went dinner with my bro after badminton and volleyball last Sunday, and together with the See/Seh sisters, as both of our parent went for church's PCC dinner. We went to Mawilla Restaurant. Been a while since I had a meal there. The place haven't change much, but the food quality, I reduced slightly. I used to like the hot and sour soup, one of the best in Labuan. But that nite disappoints me. Not as good as it used to.

Ordered ikan pari panggang, hot plate toufu, Thai chicken, and Kailan vege. It was ok, average, didn't raised my eye brows. But enjoyed the fellowship though.

The See/ Seh sisters.

BBQ nite

BBQ nite organised by my bro and his friends. I just join in the fellowship and help out. They bought 2 boxes of Heineken, and less than 10 left in the end of the nite, gila man. Overall it was good, they enjoyed the nite, that's more important.

KL business trip (30/6 - 3/7)

I was in KL again, after 2 months. But this time was not on leisure, but business purpose. I'm needed to attend a meeting in financial related. I won't explain more, P&C bah.

Overall the trip was good, and tiring. Get to meet some friends and meet new people in the corporate world. It's a good exposure for me and surely will help me more in my future career.

I stayed in Capitol Hotel, just beside Low Yat Plaza, my shopping heaven(provided I have the cash though).

The Hotel I stayed

My room, spacey and comfy. The window view is almost superb! I had a view of twin tower and KL tower. Good rite? hehehe

My room window view

I reached the hotel almost 9pm, I boarded the evening flight. Then arranged to meet a friend in Bangsar. Been years since I went there for lepak or for a drink. The place now is almost dead. It's quite, not much people around the Telawi road. 10 years ago is was one of the famous place to hangout, for both rich and middle class people. Got mamak, great pubs and classy restaurants.

The pic below is the new shopping mall, Bangsar Village 2. Didn't get to go in coz it was late.

Another view.

This road was famous years ago. Now looks almost empty. Don't be fooled by big numbers of cars, actually they just park the car there and went somewhere else. When I walked the road, not much people, not even in the shops around. I saw it was less than 10 people in every shop, which is bad for business.

Where are the people????

Met my friend and had my dinner/supper in Dave's place, an Indian place. Apa lagi, eat Indian food la.

A long time friend from Labuan, but working in KL currently.

My food!! Mutton curry, sambal brinjal and taugeh. SEDAP!!

Wah, who kena saman???

KL night life, the city that never sleeps

This is the morning view in my hotel room.

The meeting was good, very stressful, but I learned a lot. New experience and exposure for me. Thank you GOD for the opportunity!

This the view from the hotel doorstep, on the right is the Low Yat plaza and the left building is the BB Plaza. Convenient rite? Everything can get just a short walk away. Even street food!!

Centre of the Bintang walks.

Performances, snake and monkey. I wonder if this is legal?

Midget statue wannabe. Can he really stand hrs just doing that?

2nd nite went to Pavilion for dinner and movie with my friend that I met the nite before. Just to catch up and enjoy the company.

Entrance fountain of Pavilion Mall.

Had dinner at Dain Ti Hill restaurant. The only establishment in KL, and have chains in other Asian countries. The food was good, highly recommended. I like the environment too, relaxing.

The window view of our table. Good food, nice environment, and good window view, what can be better than that? hehe

I let my friend do the ordering as she's been here before.

Looks so appetizing.....

The appetizer is really one of a kind. The base is made from pumpkin. I actually don't fancy pumpkin, but this is nice, really different. It even have fish roe inside. Soft and creamy.

Lotus.

Spicy chicken. Never tasted anything close to it, really something different.

Next went for movie in GSC. Initially wanted to watch Transformer 2, but it was a Wednesday, cheap ticket day, so they sold off very fast, can't get my hand on them. Sigh, nvm. Watched "17 again" instead. It was alrite. Google it if you wanna know the synopsis of this movie.

Late supper.

View from my boss' hotel room. hehehe. Guess where he stayed from the looks of the view.....

After meeting some clients, went back to hotel to freshen up and off to Low Yat for a walk, see what I spend on, hahahaha. I bought myself a new Ipod Shuffle. It's the cheapest model of all the Ipod models, hahaha. I actually don't need an MP3 player. But tangan gatal, I buy a small and very portable ones. The reason? hmmm,.....I'll give one, I can use it when I go for jogs in the park. Having bigger size MP3 player can be annoying when bouncing in the pocket. This one I can just clip somewhere and just jog without feeling anything. It's easy to operate too, with voice that can read out the title and artist of the song. COOL!!!

Very small rite??? Envy or not? hahaha

Birthday dinner for Brooke Anne (2/7/09).
Brought her and Joshua for dinner to celebrate her birthday. She lucky I'm in KL. Went to Pavilion again, since it's a new and nice place, and also just nearby the hotel I stayed in.

Had dinner Tony Roma's. It is famous for its BBQ ribs.

Nice Environment.

Happy si Brooke bah...

Limited time Promotion, 13-inch platter of its famous ribs.

Ceaser's salad, love this salad, period!

Potato skin. Really nice too

The dish of the nite!!

Mojo chicken

Yummy man, no joke!!! Juicy and tender!

Buurp!!!!

After dinner we went for movie, again. The past 2 yrs visiting KL I didn't get to watch any movie in cinema, not once!! But this trip I went twice!!

This time we watched Ice Age 3, in 3D version. Since we never watched 3D version in any other movies before, might as well take this chance and try out.

Our new glass, cool rite? Actually we need to wear them when watching the movie, to give this 3D effect. The movie was good, funny. But the 3D effect is not wat I fancy. Can't get used to it. I till prefer the old fashion way, hehehehe.

Ada style eh!! hahahah

Roasted Chicken

Roasted chicken for dinner when my mom was away to KK to attend a seminar. It's been a while since I cook something good, or doing an experiment cooking.

This time I use very different method. Instead putting the chicken in the roast pan with the vegetable, I separated them.

The marinate is simple, bought a rendang paste, add with onions and garlic, and salt. That's all to it. You can use any other paste, according to your preference, bbq sauce, chinese sweet sauce, anything.

Closer look.

The vege that I use this time. Me and my bro love brinjal, and brinjal do go well with roasting or BBQ, from my past experience. But they must be cooked well til soft, vert soft. Then will taste great!

Into the oven they go!!

See how I separate them. I put the chicken on the grill. Reason is I want a proper roasted chicken till crisp to the skin. If I roast with the chicken, they won't crisp properly, coz of the moist retention from the vege and under exposed of the heat to the skin. Initially I set the heat at 140 degrees for bout 30 mins to let it cook thoroughly to the inside, and still keep the meat juicy and moist. Then after that I set to 180-200 degrees for 15 mins or so, depending how dark you want the skin to be. That is to crisp up the skin, take more of the fatty oil out of the skin.

I put the pan underneath to collect the juices and oils produced from the chicken as they are being roasted. The juices will enhance the vege's flavour.

This is the result. See the dark colour skin on the chicken? They are nice and crisp. Really meet my expectation, hahahah.

Another view.

The brinjal is almost 100% cooked, but not up to my softness, but still ok though. Have them with rice, and soak the vege with the chicken juice from the roast, they are nice! Me and Ivan really enjoyed it. you should try too!

Down to the last bone, nothing left, Buuuuurrrrppp!!!!!

ASB Badminton tournament (6-7 June'09)

Asian Supply Base, the company I work for, organised a badminton tournament within the company only. I've been told that it's been a while since they had this tournament. This event is in conjunction with the company's 25th anniversary celebration. I'm part of the organising committee, and also taking part in the competition. The turnout was good. Many people took part, especially the men's categories. 32 men's single and 39 pairs men's doubles. Ladies category was not that big of a number.

I took part in men's double and mix double. Managed to get 1st place in men's doubles (YAY!!) and 2nd place in mix doubles. In mixed doubles final I played against my own teammate in the men's double! He's more better than me, but I did gave a good fight till the 3rd set, won't wanna let him win the prize easily. (hehe)

Registration and time keeper counter.

SMILE!!!

Discuss....

Turnout on the 1st day. Everybody played their hearts out

2nd day, all categories' Semi-final and Finals

My teammate in mix double

My teammate in men's doubles

Ladies' doubles

Overall it was good. The event went smoothly, better than expected. Prize presentation will be done on the Family Day, probably end of July'09. Congrats to the winners, and try again next time for the unlucky ones!
